Tam Henty’s father was a Television actor and stage manager. The father of Tam Henty attended Sutton Court Primary School in Chiswick, and then Latymer Upper School, Hammersmith from September 1965.

Tam Henty’s dad was the son of the magician and prop comedian Tommy Cooper and his wife Gwen Cooper. Tam Henty’s father had a sister named Victoria Cooper. After seven years of marriage, Tam’s father’s marriage collapsed in the year 1988.

Tam’s father appeared on screen alongside Tam’s grandfather, Tommy Cooper. They appeared in an episode of the Thames Television variety series London Night Out in 1979, as well as in four episodes of the series Cooper’s Half Hour in 1980, also for the Thames. Tam’s father moreover worked as an occasional stage manager to his father.

Tam’s father was an actor in his own right and his ambition to make his own mark in the field was behind his decision to adopt his mother’s maiden name. Tam’s father revealed during an archive interview with the television personality Frank Bough that he did not want people in the acting profession to know that he was Cooper’s son.

Tam’s father died on 13 August 1988 at age 32, of hemophilia, following complications caused by liver failure.

Meanwhile, Tam’s grandfather, Thomas Frederick Cooper was born on 19 March 1921. Tam’s grandfather was an entertainer and he habitually wore a red fez when performing. Tam Henty’s grandfather performs a magical act, which specialised in magic tricks that appeared to “fail”.

However, Tommy Cooper rose to international prominence when his career moved into television, with programs for London Weekend Television and Thames Television.

Tam’s grandfather collapsed in April 1984 in front of millions of television viewers. He collapsed midway through his act on the London Weekend Television variety show Live From Her Majesty’s, transmitted live from Her Majesty’s Theatre in Westminster, London from a fatal heart attack.

Tam’s father, Thomas Henty was backstage when his father, Tommy Cooper suffered a heart attack. Tommy Cooper passed away on 15 April 1984 at the age of 63 after suffering a heart attack.
