Skylar Joyner’s father born Alfrederick A. Joyner is the 1984 Olympic gold medalist in the triple jump. He was the coach and husband of the late four-time Olympic medalist Florence Griffith Joyner. He is also the brother of six-time Olympic medalist and world heptathlon record holder, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Debra McNair, and Angela Joyner.
Skylar Joyner’s dad has three children, two daughters and a son: Mary Ruth Joyner, Jayden Alfredrick Joyner, and then Skylar Rose Joyner. Skylar’s father got married twice. He married Flo–Jo born Florence Griffith, a track athlete on October 10, 1987.
The pair met in 1980 at the Olympic trials registration and later became Flo–Jo’s coach. unfortunately, Florence died after suffering an epileptic seizure. She died at the age of 38 in 1998. Florence left behind a legacy as the fastest woman of all time based on the fact that the world records she set in 1988 for both the 100 m and 200 m have never been broken.
After Florence’s death, Skylar’s parents Alisha Biehn and Al Joyner got married on 28th Jun 2003. The couple has been together ever since.
Skylar Joyner’s dad was born to Alfred and Mary Joyner. Alfred and Mary Joyner were very young and still in their teenage years at the time of his conception. Skylar’s father attended Arkansas State University and competed with their track and field team throughout his college career.
He graduated as a three-time NCAA All-American indoor champion, a three-time NCAA All-American and outdoor champion, a four-time Southland Conference champ, and had placed 8th in the triple jump at the World Championships in Helsinki, Finland.
Al Joyner compete with U.S. Olympic track and field team in Los Angeles and with a leap of 56 feet 7.5 inches, he became the first African American in 80 years to win a gold medal in the triple jump.

Skylar Rose Joyner’s father was honored with the Jim Thorpe Award, which is given every four years to the best American competitor in an Olympic Field Event. Al Joyner and his sister Jackie Joyner Kersee became the first sibling teammates in U.S. history to win medals during the same Olympics after Jackie also captured a silver in the event.
