Callum Ferrer’s father was born on January 8, 1912 in San Juan, Puerto Rico to María Providencia Cintrón and Rafael Ferrer.Callum’s grandmother, María was from a small coastal town of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico while Callum’s grandfather, Rafael was an attorney and writer born and raised in San Juan.
Callum’s father started to attain fame for his portrayal of Cyrano de Bergerac in the play of the same name, which earned him the inaugural Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play in 1947. He repeated the role in a 1950 film version and won an Academy Award, making him the first Puerto Rican-born actor and the first Hispanic actor to win an Oscar.
The father of Callum had his major success as a Broadway actor when he performing in the play “Brother Rat” by John Monks Jr. and Fred F. Finklehoffe.
Callum’s dad ,Jose Ferrer was an optimistic young pianist who had intended to be an architect before launching his acting career .Though he studied architecture at the University he became an actor instead.
As at the 1970s and ’80s, Jose Ferrer was cast mainly as villains, mostly for television, and he made his final stage appearance in 1990. He was the first actor to receive the National Medal of Arts (1985).

Callum’s dad got married four times.He got married to German actress,Uta Hagen during December 8, 1938.The couple had a daughter, Leticia Thyra but got separated on June 14, 1948. Again Callum’s father married Phyllis Hill his second wife.They married in 19,June 1943 and later separated on July 7, 1953.They had no children.
His third wife was singer ,Rosemary Clooney.They got married on July 13, 1953 and divorced on September 12, 1967. The pair had five children:Miguel, Maria, Gabriel, Monsita and Rafael.
Callum’s father then got marriage was to Stella Daphne Magee in 1977.Stella and José Ferrer stayed together till José’s death.
Unfortunately, Callum’s father died days after his 80th birthday.He died of colorectal cancer on January 26, 1992 in Coral Gables, Florida, USA.He was then interred in Santa María Magdalena de Pazzis Cemetery in Old San Juan in his native Puerto Rico.
