Sasha John Vincent Hurt’s parents got married on 24 January 1990. His mother, Joan Dalt was an American production assistant. Joan and John Hurt met while filming Scandal. They have two sons, John Vincent Hurt and Nick Hurt.

Sasha Hurt’s father got married to actress Annette Robertson in 1962 but they separated in 1964. He started his longest relationship in 1967 with French model Marie-Lise Volpeliere-Pierrot. They planned to get married after 15 years together but she went into a coma and died.

He also got married to his old friend, American actress Donna Peacock in September 1984 at a local Register Office. They divorced in January 1990. He then went into a seven-year relationship with Dublin-born presenter and writer Sarah Owens in July 2002 and separated. He then married his fourth wife, an advertising film producer Anwen Rees-Meyers.

Sasha John Vincent Hurt’s father was born John Vincent Hurt on January 22, 1940, in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England to Phyllis Massey and Arnold Herbert Hurt. His father Phyllis is an engineer, a one-time actress, and was also vicar of St John’s parish in Sunderland, County Durham while his mother Arnold Herbert Hurt was a mathematician who became a Church of England clergyman and served as vicar of Holy Trinity Church in Shirebrook, Derbyshire.

He became Perpetual Curate of Holy Trinity Church and at age 5 John Hurt’s father became the vicar of St Stephen’s Church in Woodville, Derbyshire.

Sasha Hurt’s father had an older brother, Br. Anselm was born Michael, a Roman Catholic convert who became a monk and writer at Glenstal Abbey. He also had an adopted sister named Monica. John Hurt’s mother died in 1975 while his father died in 1999 at the age of 95.

John Hurt attended the Anglican St Michael’s Preparatory School in Otford, Kent and at age 12 he was a boarder at Lincoln School (then a grammar school). He then enrolled in Grimsby Art School (now the East Coast School of Art and Design) at the age of 17 and studied art.

He studies for an Art Teacher’s Diploma at Saint Martin’s School of Art in London after winning a scholarship. He also won a scholarship to RADA in 1960, where he trained for two years.

Sasha John Vincent Hurt’s father rose to fame after his role as Richard Rich in the film A Man for All Seasons and gained BAFTA Award nominations for his portrayals of Timothy Evans in 10 Rillington Place and Quentin Crisp in the television film The Naked Civil Servant, which allowed him to win his first BAFTA for the latter. He got honored with the Lifetime Achievement BAFTA Award, in recognition of his “outstanding contribution to cinema” and was knighted in 2015 for his services to drama.

He played Caligula in the BBC TV series I, Claudius in 1976 and performed in the prison drama Midnight Express which gave him international renown and earned him Golden Globe and BAFTA Awards, along with an Academy Award nomination. John Hurt was regarded among Britain’s finest actors and director David Lynch also characterized him as “simply the greatest actor in the world”.

Sasha John Vincent Hurt’s dad has a voice described as the “most distinctive voice in Britain” likened by The Observer to “nicotine sieved through dirty, moonlit gravel”. Sasha John Vincent Hurt’s father announced to the public that had been diagnosed with early-stage pancreatic cancer and also confirmed his intentions to continue work while undergoing treatment.

Sasha John Vincent Hurt’s father revealed that he and the medical team treating him were “more than optimistic about a satisfactory outcome”. He also mentioned on 12 October 2015 that his cancer was in remission and later died at his home in Cromer, Norfolk. He passed away 3 days after his 77th birthday, on 25 January 2017.
