Amy is the great-granddaughter of A. M Burton the founder of Life and Casualty Insurance Company, an epithet of Nashville’s Life and Casualty Tower, WLAC Radio, and WLAC-television, and Lillie Burton. The couple got married on 19 June, 1982 but in March 1999, Sarah’s mother filed for a divorce from Gary, stating her reason for the divorce as “irreconcilable difference” and the divorce was finalized three months later. They had three children together.
