Coco Sian Ryder’s father got married on March 7, 2010, to Joanne Ryder, a business manager, and a personal manager. Joanne is the mother of three children and Shaun’s second wife. They married at a surprise ceremony at their youngest daughter’s christening. The pair have two daughters, Pearl,13, and Lulu, 12. Shaun credits his daughters with saving his life. Coco Ryder’s father, Shaun Ryder was born on 23 August 1962 in Little Hulton, Lancashire. He abandoned school when he was 13 years old to work on a building site and was unable to read the alphabet until he was 26. According to him he learned the alphabet at age 26 from his girlfriend at the time through singing in five minutes and mentioned that there are different ways of learning.
Coco Ryder’s father was the lead singer of Happy Mondays and was a leading figure in the Madchester cultural scene during the late 1980s and early 1990s. He released a solo album, Amateur Night in the Big Top, to a mixed critical reception and also formed Black Grape with former Happy Mondays dancer Bez and became the runner-up on the tenth series of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!. He launched his new project, Black Grape in the year 1995, and its first release, It’s Great When You’re Straight…, topped the British album chart for a week.
THE Happy Mondays singer, Shaun Ryder had a follow-up album, Stupid Stupid Stupid which did not achieve the same critical or commercial success. Later, the group separated in 1998 and come back briefly in 2010, and released a single in the year 2015. The group then published their first full album since 1997, Pop Voodoo in August 2017. He was the host of the TV show, Shaun Ryder, on UFOs on The History Channel UK and appeared repeatedly on the panel of RT UK’s News Thing. He also appeared in BBC Two comedy Mandy created by Diane Morgan in which he portrayed a fictional version of himself.
In 1993, Coco Ryder’s dad went on to worked together with Intastella and then worked with Jerry Harrison, Tina Weymouth, and Chris Frantz on No Talking, Just Head in 1996. He also made his appearance on British tenor Russell Watson’s 2001 debut album The Voice, lending his vocals to a cover version of the Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé song “Barcelona”.His voice acting role was in the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in which he played Maccer.
The father of Coco Ryder appeared in Peter Kay’s “Is This the Way to Amarillo?” charity music video and collaborated with Gorillaz on “Dare”, a song on their Demon Days album. He gave his support to the Charlatans on a UK tour and one-off headline show at the Assembly, Leamington Spa. He also played saxophone onstage at the Barbican in York as a special guest in Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra for the Sky television series First Love. He became the subject of Richard Macer’s BBC3 documentary Shaun Ryder: The Ecstasy and the Agony and was a contestant on the tenth series of ITV’s reality game show I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!.
Meanwhile, Shaun suffers from ADHD, alopecia, and thyroid problems. He has also suffered from heroin addiction and his addiction to crack cocaine broke up the Happy Mondays in 1992.
